Honestly I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. It feels like every contractor I talk to is shifting almost everything to software, from material counts to full project takeoffs. It’s great that things are getting faster, but sometimes I wonder if we’re losing that old-school accuracy that comes from actually reviewing plans by hand.
I was recently checking out some commercial estimating services in usa, and they’re mixing both digital tools + manual review. And honestly that combo seems way more reliable. Pure software sometimes skips details, especially on renovation projects where drawings aren’t perfect.
Anyway, what do you guys think?
Is the industry getting too dependent on automation, or is this just the natural next step for construction?
